  • Underbite: The bottom row of teeth pushes out farther than the top row of teeth.
  • Crossbite: Teeth cross over each other when you bite down.
  • Open Bite: Teeth do not make contact when you go to close your mouth.
  • Dental Midlines: The area of the mouth that can develop problems and lead to temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ/TMD).

Is Invisalign Right for Me?

The only way to know if Invisalign is the right solution for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Piccione. During your initial visit, he will examine your smile and determine the severity of your bite problem. If it is proven that Invisalign will help you achieve the results you desire, he will take digital impressions of your smile and send them off to a lab where technicians will begin to create the aligners you will wear throughout treatment.

After a few weeks, you will return to retrieve your aligners as well as detailed instructions by your cosmetic dentist on how long you should wear each set of trays. Typically, you will be required to wear your trays for 20-22 hours each day for 1-2 weeks at a time. Then, you will need to swap out your aligners for a new set, allowing your teeth to continue moving in the proper direction. You may feel some discomfort or soreness in the few days after; however, an over-the-counter pain reliever and cold compress can help to alleviate the pain.

You will be responsible for maintaining appointments with Dr. Piccione every 4-8 weeks so that you can retrieve additional Invisalign sets for continued treatment.

After you are finished with Invisalign (typically 9-18 months), you will need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth from shifting back into their original position.
